What is a Hotspot solution?

OctoSpot lets you share an Internet connection with customers, visitors, guests or employees while controlling access through a customizable captive portal and several authentication methods.

Three editions for different deployment models:

OctoSpot is the licensed edition installed on a Linux server or virtual machine. OctoSpot ARM is a dedicated edition that runs directly on a compatible MikroTik router, with no external VM, PC or server required. CloudSpot is the cloud edition, compatible with MikroTik routers and Ubiquiti UniFi gateways, managed through the hosted infrastructure. For this offer, visit the dedicated CloudSpot.fr website.

Logging and data retention:

OctoSpot provides the technical features needed to log sessions and retain connection data in line with applicable requirements. In France, this includes the data retention framework defined by article L.34-1 of the Postal and Electronic Communications Code (CPCE).

  • Differentiated retention periods depending on the nature of the data, including civil identity when it is collected by the operator (five years in France).

Requirements
  • OctoSpot: Linux server or Linux VM (Debian 64-bit, Ubuntu Server 64-bit).
  • On request, the solution can be delivered as a Proxmox VM file ready to deploy.
  • OctoSpot ARM: compatible MikroTik ARM router, with no external server or VM.
  • CloudSpot: MikroTik router or Ubiquiti UniFi gateway connected to the dedicated cloud service.

OctoSpot and CloudSpot are already successfully deployed in France, with thousands of sites in production.
