What Service+ adds to the current Windows service tools

Modern Windows already includes the Services console and PowerShell cmdlets to list, start, stop, restart and configure services. Service+ does not replace those tools; it adds a more productive graphical console for administrators who manage many services, several machines or advanced service settings.

Where Windows is usually enough
  • View local services and their current status.
  • Start, stop, pause or restart a service.
  • Change common properties such as startup type, logon account, recovery actions and dependencies.
  • Use PowerShell for scripted service operations.
What Service+ adds
Daily administration task Current Windows tools With Service+
Act on several services at once Usually one service at a time in the graphical console, or scripted with PowerShell. Start, stop, pause or edit multiple selected services from the same console.
Handle a blocked service Requires identifying and ending the underlying process with another tool. Terminate a non-responding service process directly from the service view.
Compare and filter many services Basic sorting and filtering, depending on the tool used. Custom views with advanced columns, filters and saved layouts focused on the services you manage.
Manage remote computers Available through administrative tools, remoting or scripts, but often spread across tools. Manage services from several computers in a single administration console.
Change advanced configuration Some settings require command-line tools, registry edits or scripts. Edit service dependencies, security, startup account and other advanced properties from the UI.
Reproduce a service setup Usually requires documentation or custom scripting. Import and export service settings as XML to duplicate, back up or standardize configurations.
Troubleshoot service code Requires switching to debugging tools and finding the correct process. Attach a debugger to the service process in one click.
Typical use cases
  • Administrators who need a clearer service console than the default Windows snap-in.
  • Support teams that frequently start, stop or inspect groups of related services.
  • Developers who test Windows services and need quick access to process, account and dependency details.
  • Teams that want to back up or reproduce service configurations without writing scripts every time.
